Curlfest 2019: Hot Girl Summer

Curlfest 2019 has a new home and folks showed up, turned up, and were serving looks at Randall's Island. To summarize the event, it was alot of Brown Skin Girls enjoying their Hot Girl Summer, as well as the fellas too.

Two of my friends drove up from Pennsylvania to come to Curlfest for their first time.

The talent could be seen live in action as people watched @iamchelseanicole paint live amongst other talented artist.

Attendees of Curlfest alway slays their looks for head to toe and this year was no different; per usual my people did not come to PLAY! From the floor length braids & ponytails, big afros, floral hair accessories, colorful short and long hairstyles and my fellas with the beards; looks were being served from hair to toe.

I will admit, I do prefer when events like these are smaller and not so popular because I do get to enjoy myself a little more. Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely happy for the founders of Curlfest and how big they were able to take this event to a global level; people travel from all over the world just to come to Curlfest; however I was not here for all of those lines.

If you're planning on going to Curlfest in Atlanta in September or in New York for 2020, check out a few tips below that will make your time at Curlfest more convenient for you and your squad.

Curls Unleashed had one of the longest lines throughout the festival. Everyone at the booth look so chic in their pastel tutus and tees.

If you're planning on going to Curlfest in Atlanta in September or in New York for 2020, check out a few tips below:

• Bring your own food, snacks, and drinks (non-alcoholic), alcohol is not allowed inside but wine & beer was sold for the first time ever this year. They did have a water station so you can refill your water bottle up if needed. If you're ratchet like myself and my friend, fill up your water bottle with your favorite wine and walk right on in. One group had about 3 11 Piece Special box from Popeyes lol. I carried my cooloer and brought snacks, fruit, and water with me.
• Bring a blanket or chair and an umbrella to block the sun. (It was hot as hell this year).
• Try to arrive as early as possible to avoid the long lines to get inside the event and to take a picture of the Curlfest sign.
• If you plan on taking lots of pictures, vlogging, etc. bring a camera or portable charger with you so your phone won't died, unless you are in VIP where they have a charging station.
• Bring cash just in case you want to purchase something from a vendor.
• Bring your business cards. Curlfest started as an event to embrace your blackness, the skin you're in, and the natural hair tgat grows from tge roots of your head. However, many marco & mirco photographers, influencers, editors, and even celebrities come out to Curlfest; it's a great networking event. When I went to Curlfest in 2017 in Prospect Park, Spike Lee was just chilling, talking, and talking pictures with fans.
• Don't forget that sunscreens, bug repellent spray, and that hand sanitizer if you're OCD like me.
• A portable speaker is good to bring if you end up sitting far away from the main stage where the music is playing.
• Remember this is a massive event, come with patience because you will wait in some kind of line unless you're just there to chill with your friends.

Hope these tips were helpful!

6 Polka Dot Accessories That Will Take Your Summer Outfit To The Next Level

The polka dot print made a strong appearance on the Spring/Summer 2019 runways. And it was not just apparel the was front and center; there were many playful printed accessories making it's way down the runways.  I don't really wear much print, however I've been trying to step outside of my comfort zone by wearing less black and more color & prints.

I'm wearing a Zara Polka Dot Tie Blouse and White Black and Wide Leg Pants from Zara (sold out), Topshop belt and Vintage Handbag Straight Outta My Grandma's Closet.

Following up on my recent post "6 BLACK & WHITE POLKA DOT SUMMER DRESSES UNDER $100 TO SHOP FOR ANY OCCASION",  here are 6 FUN POLKA DOT ACCESSORIES THAT WILL TAKE YOUR SUMMER OUTFIT TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

6 Black & White Polka Dot Summer Dresses Under $100 To Shop For Any Occasion

One great thing about the summertime for us girls is the ability to find chic summer dresses at super affordable price points. I scored this polka dot Urban Outfitters dress I'm wearing for just $19.99 and love it. It's so versatile and can be styled for a casual summer brunch or dressed up for a beach wedding etc.

This classic black and white print came to life at many Spring/Summer 2019 runway shows like Carolina Herrera, Dolce & Gabbana, and many other designer shows.

I personally consider the black & white polka print as a classic style rather than a trend. What are your thoughts? Trendy or classic print?

Check out and shop my top picks for black and white polka dot printed dresses below all under $100; including the dress I'm wearing in the photos above.

4th of July Sales: Styling N Thangs Top Picks

I don't really celebrate July 4th; for me it's a day of relaxing and enjoying me time. While I don't engage in any outdoor activities, I do take advantage of all the amazing sales that take place due to the holiday. So while I'm home, I decided to browse some items I've been waiting for to go on sale. Below is a list of websites that have summertime essential and trends definitely worth grabbing before it's sold out.

I'm wearing a Zara colored strapped dress and off the shoulder Zara limited edition print top; both currently on sale now. I purchased these items at full price (hint as to why I rarely buy full price...almost everything gets mark down).

There are a ton of sales going on today continuing into the weekend. In particular, I think the best deals are at Urban Outfitters, Other Stories, Schutz, & Opening Ceremony. My opinion is based on price point & product availability based on my personal style. There are a few other I think are great as well, however I saw a great variety of styles I personally liked on these sites.
