My Top Fashion Trend Picks For Spring 2020

My favorite season has arrived; spring time has finally sprung. It’s that time of year for music festivals, spring break trips, and new fashion trends to enter our wardrobe for the season. Unfortunately, for this spring all of those outdoor activities we look forward to have been cancelled due to the coronavirus. However, now we have plenty of time to merge those closets and add some new trendy fashion pieces to our wardrobes. And like each season, tons of fashion trends emerge from the runway. Below I’m sharing some of my top fashion trend picks seen on the runways for S/S 2020.

Shine Bright Like A Diamond

Vibrant, electric, ultra bright fluorescent colors are the hues for Spring 2020. Every neon color you can think of from hot pink to bright teal graced the runways in New York, London, Milan, and Paris in September. It’s time to say bye bye to those soft pastel colors, this season it’s all about going bold and wearing colors that would make anyone stand out in a crowd.

Styling Tips: If you’re not comfortable wearing such bold colors, you can wear this trend by incorporating  a neon accessory like a handbag, or shoes. Also, pairing a neutral color will give contrast and help balance out the bold color.

Point Em Out

Detailed necklines made a strong appearance this season. Designers from Fendi to Louis Vuitton showcased polished and structured looks with exaggerated pointed collar tops.

Styling Tips: The look of this top is very polished. For a day time look, I would pair with some loafer for a more relaxed fit.

Who’s ready to show off their legs? The itty bitty, coochie cutter shorts swarmed the spring 2020 runways in every single fabrication and silhouette you can think of. Alexander Wang opted for a denim hot pants casual sporty chic look, while  Brandon Maxwell look was more suited for a night out for cocktails. If you’re bold enough to rock hot pants, there’s plenty of styles available to wear from denim to knitted.

Styling Tip: When wearing hot pants, I’d recommend wearing a blazer or waist length top to balance out the look so it doesn’t start to get too skimpy looking. The top/bottom balanced ratio will keep the look a bit more classy.

90’s Vibes Bucket Hat

A rather surprising accessory hit the S/S 20 runways in September; the bucket hat which is the complete opposite from the oversized floppy hats that were so popular last spring. I personally did not think bucket hats would be so huge this season. It’s safe to say the once trending visor will quickly be replaced with bucket hats this season. For a different approach to the bucket hat, Dior created a straw version, which will make for a fun beach look while protecting your face from the sun rays.

Styling Tip: The bucket hat is truly a 90’s LL Cool J vibe. A get accessory for the summertime, bucket hats will look great paired with a casual summer look (dress, skirt, or shorts) and sneakers to completed the look.

The New Suit: Featuring the Bermuda Short

If you can’t get with the hot pants trend, maybe bermuda shorts are more your aesthetic. A new update on the classic suit, the tailored pants have been replaced  with bermuda shorts. Bermuda shorts dominated the runways and in particular tailored, polished suits were seen down every major designer’s runway. Max Mara put a  fun twist on their suits, adding fun pastel colors and matching vest in head to toe monochromatic looks.

Styling Tips: The number of ways to style a suit is endless. The one thing I would suggest when wearing a bermuda short suit, is to make sure the shorts and blazer fits correctly. It’s important that suits fit properly or else the suit ends up looking sloppy and unpolished.

Make it Super Sized Please

So remember the ridiculous tiny teeny bags everyone was obsessing over?….well if you were one of the few people that could not get into carrying a bag that served no purpose, you’re in luck. It’s time to put aside the toy handbag and grab a bag that serves purpose. This oversized bag is perfect for a spa day or weekend getaway. And with the new plastic bag ban law in full effect, carrying enormous bags comes in handy.

Styling Tip: More of a warning tip; don’t over pack your bag just because its gigantic. There’s only but so much one person can carry on their shoulder and inside of the handbag before breaking down.
