I'm back with another Runway Remix. The exact moment when I saw Jacquemus Spring 2020 RTW look 24, I knew I'd love to recreate this look with affordable pieces. I'm not one to mix a ton of colors together, but this look was done in such a playful way I couldn't resist.

I remixed this Jacquemus runway look wearing Storet's Brianna oversized blazer, Nasty Gal cropped top and biker set, Nasty Gal strap heel shoes, and an Amazon round tote bag.

The bright yellow earrings, blue heel sandals, and oversized pink blazer worked sooo well together. I would've never paired these solid colored accessories together. It was a minimal, but chic look that so many people were excited about.

I personally think this look stole the show, once the show was completed I feel like look 24 from this collection went viral on Instagram. It probably was the oversized pink blazer with a hint of neon green in the pockets for everyone.

Thats right, I where my mask in between shooting as well. Don't let the pictures fool you, and please remember to wear a mask.

I've really have grown to love the Jacquemus brand, even the ridiculously small handbags. If you love this look, all you need is a biker short set, oversized pink or pop of color blazer, tote bag, and heel sandal and boom there you go, look 24 has been recreated. Are you a fan of the brand? Did I get this remix runway look right?

It doesn't matter how old you are or where you are starting from - anyone can become a mogul. This is one of many inspirational statements from the book "You are a Mogul" by Tiffany Pham. I've always wanted to read this book and like so many of us; I alway say I'm too busy to make time to read books.  I've put this book cover on my mood board because I wanted this to be the first book I read in 2020. The purpose of putting the book cover on my mood board is for a daily reminder of my new way of thinking in life.  The title speaks volumes to the lifestyle and goals I have aligned for my future.

And now that the world has come to a complete slow down due to COVID-19, I was able to finally read the remainder of the book (I started reading the book back in February). So during this pandemic, I think it's important not to consume a large in take of the media or else you'll drive yourself crazy. Below I'm sharing some books and shows to help keep you entertained through these self isolating times we're living in.

It's important for everyone to know their value and worth. And as women, many times we're overlooked in the workforce and there's a huge inequality in pay. According to one source, women earn 49 cents compared to every $1 men earn. The three books listed below are great reads for any one, and especially for women wanting to pursue an entrepreneurial path or simply have a very successful career and climb the corporate ladder.

Inspirational Books For Females
  1. You are a Mogul by Tiffany Pham
  2. Girl Boss  by Sophia Amoruso
  3. Year of Yes By Shonda Rhimes

Who remembers those teenage days when you use to swap those hood books with your friends. Well I do, and I might just relive my childhood by reading one of the below good old classic hood books I still have. The below books were my favorites during my teenage years and I must've read them at least 3 times each.

My favorite books throughout my teenage years
  1. True To The Game by Teri Woods
  2. The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah
  3. B-More Careful by Shannon Holmes

Books that are on my to read list for 2020
  1. Becoming by Michelle Obama (QUEEN)
  2. You are a Bad Ass by Jen Sincero
  3. Redefining Realness: My Path to Womanhood, Identity, Love & So Much More by Janet Mock
  4. The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander
  5. Women, Race, and Class by Angela Y. Davis

Binge worthy shows to watch
  1. The Walking Dead - I know many people can not get into this show, but this is by far one of my favorite shows right now. If you look pass the zombies, this show is more about humanity and who you are as a human being when it really matters the most in the world. And it shows survive of the fittest skills as well.
  2. Narcos - I don't know why, but I've always been intrigued by mob/drug trafficking shows. I think it's because most kingpins have a business mind set and instead of putting this effort into a legal entity, they continue to run illegal empires. It's like an addict of power they can''t seem to get enough of and for some reason I'm hooked.
  3. When They See Us - As an African American who grew up in Harlem, literally blocks away from where the beginning scenes are of the kids hanging out at in Central Park, this series made me emotional. This limited series created by Ava DuVernay is phenomenal. Warning: Be prepared to get very emotional while watching. Everyone I know that has watched this series has shed a tear or had to hit the pause button to keep from crying.
  4. Hip Hop Evolution - I don't know what made me start watching this show. I've known this show existed for quite some time before I binge watched it, however I did not think it would be as good as it was. No one recommended this show to me and I didn't hear much hype around this show, so I was genuinely shocked at just how informative and interesting the show is. If you're a lover of hip hop music, trust me you will enjoy this series. The show gives a history of the culture and the originates of the different type of sounds in hip hop. It's very informative and I learned some new fun facts about the culture.
  5. Money Heist - Money Heist is an action packed show with tons of great character development. Each character is unique in their own way and is one of the reason you'll be glued to the show.
There are a few other shows I love and would recommend, these are just a few from different categories. Have you read or seen any of the shows and books I listed above?

My favorite season has arrived; spring time has finally sprung. It's that time of year for music festivals, spring break trips, and new fashion trends to enter our wardrobe for the season. Unfortunately, for this spring all of those outdoor activities we look forward to have been cancelled due to the coronavirus. However, now we have plenty of time to merge those closets and add some new trendy fashion pieces to our wardrobes. And like each season, tons of fashion trends emerge from the runway. Below I'm sharing some of my top fashion trend picks seen on the runways for S/S 2020.

Shine Bright Like A Diamond

Vibrant, electric, ultra bright fluorescent colors are the hues for Spring 2020. Every neon color you can think of from hot pink to bright teal graced the runways in New York, London, Milan, and Paris in September. It's time to say bye bye to those soft pastel colors, this season it's all about going bold and wearing colors that would make anyone stand out in a crowd.

Styling Tips: If you're not comfortable wearing such bold colors, you can wear this trend by incorporating  a neon accessory like a handbag, or shoes. Also, pairing a neutral color will give contrast and help balance out the bold color.

Point Em Out

Detailed necklines made a strong appearance this season. Designers from Fendi to Louis Vuitton showcased polished and structured looks with exaggerated pointed collar tops.

Styling Tips: The look of this top is very polished. For a day time look, I would pair with some loafer for a more relaxed fit.

Who's ready to show off their legs? The itty bitty, coochie cutter shorts swarmed the spring 2020 runways in every single fabrication and silhouette you can think of. Alexander Wang opted for a denim hot pants casual sporty chic look, while  Brandon Maxwell look was more suited for a night out for cocktails. If you're bold enough to rock hot pants, there's plenty of styles available to wear from denim to knitted.

Styling Tip: When wearing hot pants, I'd recommend wearing a blazer or waist length top to balance out the look so it doesn't start to get too skimpy looking. The top/bottom balanced ratio will keep the look a bit more classy.

90's Vibes Bucket Hat

A rather surprising accessory hit the S/S 20 runways in September; the bucket hat which is the complete opposite from the oversized floppy hats that were so popular last spring. I personally did not think bucket hats would be so huge this season. It's safe to say the once trending visor will quickly be replaced with bucket hats this season. For a different approach to the bucket hat, Dior created a straw version, which will make for a fun beach look while protecting your face from the sun rays.

Styling Tip: The bucket hat is truly a 90's LL Cool J vibe. A get accessory for the summertime, bucket hats will look great paired with a casual summer look (dress, skirt, or shorts) and sneakers to completed the look.

The New Suit: Featuring the Bermuda Short

If you can't get with the hot pants trend, maybe bermuda shorts are more your aesthetic. A new update on the classic suit, the tailored pants have been replaced  with bermuda shorts. Bermuda shorts dominated the runways and in particular tailored, polished suits were seen down every major designer's runway. Max Mara put a  fun twist on their suits, adding fun pastel colors and matching vest in head to toe monochromatic looks.

Styling Tips: The number of ways to style a suit is endless. The one thing I would suggest when wearing a bermuda short suit, is to make sure the shorts and blazer fits correctly. It's important that suits fit properly or else the suit ends up looking sloppy and unpolished.

Make it Super Sized Please

So remember the ridiculous tiny teeny bags everyone was obsessing over?....well if you were one of the few people that could not get into carrying a bag that served no purpose, you're in luck. It's time to put aside the toy handbag and grab a bag that serves purpose. This oversized bag is perfect for a spa day or weekend getaway. And with the new plastic bag ban law in full effect, carrying enormous bags comes in handy.

From left to right Bottega Veneta, Jacquemus

Styling Tip: More of a warning tip; don't over pack your bag just because its gigantic. There's only but so much one person can carry on their shoulder and inside of the handbag before breaking down.

Which trend will you be rocking this spring?

The great thing about fashion is being able to take inspiration from the runways and interpret trends into your own style, which is why I enjoy doing my runway remix segments. You don't have to break the bank wearing designer looks to have the latest fashion trends.

I decided to remix the Tibi Fall 2019 RTW look 31. I loved that Tibi opted for pastels colors for a fall look,  since most fall looks consist of dark, neutral color ways. I can across this ASOS drop waist smock dress I'm wearing in the photos below and immediately thought of Tibi's F/W 2019 runway look. Lately, smock dresses have been all the rave and spotted on many influencers both on the gram and in the streets.

I remixed this Tibi runway look wearing a ASOS lavender drop waist smock dress and Bershka high-heel slouched boots.

My love for smock dresses was heighten to another level when I discovered designer Cecilie Bahnsenwho I have pronounced (the queen of smock dresses). Smock dresses have just the right amount of femininity and are great for styling a look from day to night. Whether you like a short/long dress, neutral/vibrant colors or printed/solid dress, there's a variety of smock dress options on the market to shop.

Are you feeling smock dresses? Did I nail this Tibi runway look 31 remix?

We are all familiar with one of the most popular and versatile prints in fashion, which is plaid. Perhaps it might be so popular because this print is used in every silhouette (think a flannel shirt), dresses, and accessories. Wore by the preppy and grunge style enthusiast, there's certainly a plaid type for everyone.

As someone who is always in black and neutral colors (I know typical New Yorker), every now and then I do love to add a hint of color to my outfit. And one of my go to prints is plaid of course. I love a plaid print because it's not too busy of a print, I'm comfortable wearing it, and I can always find cool pieces; in both vivid or neutral colors.

Check out some cool plaid items below that will liven up any outfit.
